shelby reddick started college at Middle Tennessee State University in 2009 and in 2012 she began her second degree, a BFA in studio art. Here is where she began live painting, spoken word poetry, and developing her artistic voice.
after college, shelby's work contracted. outside of MTSU's state of the art studios, and into the kitchen, her work shrank into 3x3x3 inch cubes. these handmade boxes were hewn out of balsa wood and cut with x-acto blades and glued together. each unique, hand stained individual was then coated with gesso and topped with a unique encaustic painting, the ancient art form the artist had learned in school, and perfected afterwards.

in 2019 shelby began working with local musicians in the nashville diy music scene, where she designed promotional materials and assisted in event booking and talent buying. this constant content creation was a crucible of creative demand until 2020 cancelled everything
